The Bellierub.....
........ on facts and myths

Myth: You will get big and bulky if you start weight training.
Fact: The body builders you typically see have spent many years training
intensely or have spent many dollars on steroids to obtain that big bulky look.
They also eat mountains of food to continue to grow muscle and gain weight.
Since you are striving to lose weight and gain lean muscle tissue, your fears of
becoming musclebound are unfounded. Besides, just the fact that you may
express this fear only means you do not have the drive to get to that level.

Myth: The longer you exercise, the better the results.
Fact: Grab another beer. Everything in life boils down to quality and not
quantity. Except for beer and money. While it is good to exercise for a
sustained amount of time, it is also important to give it a good effort. (i.e)
Sweat. If you do not push yourself, you will never achieve the results you seek.

Myth: A ton of sit-ups will gaurantee a six-pack stomach.
Fact: That's only possible if you really do a ton of them and severly restrict your
diet. Sit-ups help to strengthen and define your midsection but it is the loss of
body fat that will show these muscles. Sad to say that when you reduce your
body fat to that level, you also take important muscle with it. That is why a well
balanced, low calorie diet , coupled with weight training and aerobic exercise
is recommended for success in finding that six-pack stomach.

Myth: Your weight problem is hormonal.
Fact: Barring any  real medical condition you probably don't have, your weight
problem is a direct coorelation between the amount of calories you consume
and the amount of calories you burn day in and day out.

Myth: Carbohydrates are the cause of your weight gain.
Fact: Too many calories from carbohydrates can be the cause of your weight
gain. Just like too many calories from dietary fats and proteins can also be the
cause of your weight gain. Too many calories are the cause of weight gain!!

Myth: If you drink too much beer you will get a big beer belly.
Fact: If you keep your calorie levels low enough and exercise to burn extra
ones, then you can enjoy a few beers everyday without weight gain concerns.
